Running barefoot may help improve your memory

According to a new study published by researchers at the University of North Florida, running barefoot boosts your working memory. So run barefoot and give a leg up to your memory.




The study, designed by lead researcher Dr. Ross Alloway, is the first to prove that running barefoot leads to better cognitive performance than running with shoes. Working memory is the ability to process information and recall and is used throughout our lifespan. Working memory is recognized as a crucial cognitive skill.


The study was performed using 72 volunteers aged between 18 and 44.All the volunteers ran barefoot as well as wearing shoes at their own pace for approximately 16 minutes. Working memory was measured before and after running. It was found that working memory significantly increased by approximately 16 % for people who walked barefoot.

So ditch your sneakers and run barefoot to sharpen your mind for all activities.
