Khatri explained that over-exercising can work against our health goals and increase the risk of many health issues. These may include:
1. Increased Risk of Injury
The recovery time after a workout session is extremely crucial and if it is lacking, the muscles, joints and tissues in the body become fragile and can be injured with abrasion, tearing or breaking. Additionally, working out too frequently or doing it with too much intensity can even lead to injuries like shin splints, tendinitis, or muscle pulls. Therefore, taking a break allows the body to heal the parts that are less than perfect and prevent injuries that are chronic.

2. Hormonal Imbalance
Excessive exercise may lead to disrupted hormone levels, with cortisol (the stress hormone) being the main one. As cortisol increases, the body may suffer from lack of sleep, wrong metabolism patterns, and even muscle-building may be hindered to a certain extent. In females, over-exercising can lead to period irregularities or lack of menstruation as a result of changes in the levels of reproductive hormones.
3. Weakened Immune System
Moderate working out promotes good immunity; however, additional exercises can cause immune suppression. The combination of too much bodily stress and no adequate recovery diminishes the body’s capacity to fend off the virus, thus making it prone to sore throat, cold, flu, and tiredness-related diseases.
4. Mental and Emotional Burnout
Exercise is great for mental health, but excessive training may result in a person’s nerves being provoked, mood changes, anxiety, and lack of energy. The prolonged physical stress can reduce mental energy, bring down motivation, and even cause symptoms of exercise addiction or the feeling of guilt linked with rest.

5. Sleep Disturbances
