Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to launch two of India's biggest health and nutrition programs, the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan and the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, today. The function on PM Modi’s birthday will also see the release of cash assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to more than 10 lakh beneficiaries.
The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan will be conducted from September 17 to October 2, 2025, with an emphasis on women's preventive health, screening, and awareness. At the same time, the Rashtriya Poshan Maah will be celebrated from September 17 to October 16, 2025, throughout India, with activities designed to enhance nutrition behaviors and encourage healthier lifestyles.
Additionally, special registration drive under PMMVY is reported to be an integral part of the campaign to provide increased maternity benefits to greater numbers of pregnant and lactating women across the country.
Joint Campaign for Women and Family Health
The programme is being led in a joint effort by the Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD) and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW).
The WCD Ministry will engage women and adolescent girls through its vast Anganwadi network, dovetailing Poshan Maah activities with the Abhiyaan.
The Health Ministry will concentrate on preventive, promotive, and curative health care services, conducting health camps and increasing access to facilities.
Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Smt Annpurna Devi, will flag off the campaign from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, interacting with the women beneficiaries, Anganwadi workers, health workers, and self-help groups. The Minister of State for WCD will accompany the Prime Minister at the Dhar event.

Building Towards Viksit Bharat 2047
The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is regarded as one of the supporting pillars in achieving Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, placing women's health at the forefront of family and community well-being. Its focus on preventive care accentuates areas like early disease detection, maternal health, and nutrition awareness.
Aimed in tandem, the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah will encompass six large themes:
- Decreasing oil and sugar intake to combat obesity
- Early childhood education and care
- Infant and young child feeding behaviors
- Supporting male engagement in family nutrition and childcare
- Healthy local diets and sustainable food systems
- Convergent efforts with digitisation for improved service delivery
By putting healthcare, nutrition, and financial assistance together under one umbrella, the government, and PM Modi on his 75th birthday, is positioning itself to build a solid foundation of healthier women, stronger families, and a more empowered country.
