We may soon have an introduction of DNA mapping for cancer patients and other rare diseases, which will make personalised medicine a reality. A report of Life Sciences Strategy revealed that United Kingdom Government generated over £1billion for DNA mapping.

Personalised Medicine to be Reality

Personalised medicine that exists in conceptual terms could a reality soon. According to a report of Life Sciences Strategy, United Kingdom Government has generated more than £1billion on industry and private sector investment within 12 months for DNA mapping.

Sir John Bell, professor of medical sciences at Oxford University, stated that the price of genome sequencing has fallen considerably, by 100,000-fold in 10 years. £100 a genome will happen in the very near future.

The Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Mr. David Cameron, will be announcing plans to transform cancer treatment in with new proposals that will see the introduction of DNA mapping for cancer patients and rare diseases.

The move designed to combat cancer and rare diseases will make United Kingdom the first country to introduce hi-tech DNA mapping within a mainstream healthcare system.
