Swollen eyes, fatigue, headache and a lethargic day afterwards are a few side-effects of not getting a good night's sleep and the sort of lifestyle that we lead today, sleepless nights are only obvious. Tossing and turning on bed becomes a habit. However, how someone is supposed to get a good night’s sleep? No one knows what a good night’s sleep is.
Sleep-medicine specialist Philip Gehrman, PhD, an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, states some new guidelines that can be helpful for anyone who’s not getting the right kind of sleep. “Not only will it help people know when their sleep is poor,” he says, “but sometimes people think they are bad sleepers when really they’re in the normal range.” (Gehrman was not involved in creation of new guidelines.)
As per the studies, there’s an appropriate and inappropriate range of sleep for good sleep quality. The studies further suggested that people who get a goodnight’s sleep have somewhat common traits.
Here are some common traits that people who have a goodnight’s sleep share.
They fall asleep in 30 minutes or earlier
The people who actually have a good night’s sleep, where they do not struggle to fall asleep, fall asleep in less than 30 minutes or maybe lesser. Somehow their body is ready for sleep. The time they choose makes it possible for them to fall asleep within 30 minutes. The people, who struggle to sleep, actually go to sleep when their internal clock is not ready for a sleep. They keep themselves engaged but this only keeps their brain wide awake. They lie awake in the bed but find it too tough to fall asleep.

They do not wake-up in the middle of the night
They either don’t wake up in the middle of night or if they do fall back asleep in minutes. Waking up between sleep is another common problem but people with good night’s sleep don’t wake up between their sleep or fall back asleep quickly.
Their diet is healthy
One habit that good sleepers share is having a good diet. They have less inorganic, acidic, sweet foods, they consume healthier food.
The good sleepers sleep whenever they are on bed
It has been found out that the good sleepers will sleep 85% of time when they are on the bed. People who are not good sleepers will not fall asleep on bed, on any time of the day but when a good sleeper just go to sit on a bed, he or she will fall asleep.
