Sharma explains that palm is a tree wherein its liquid is collected and boiled to make palm jaggery. Palm jaggery is a traditional sweetener which is antioxidant rich and full of minerals like iron, calcium, potassium. 

Thanks to its strong nutritional composition, it is a good variety of raw jaggery that offers numerous health benefits. It is a great alternative to white sugar, which is devoid of all nutrients because of the flushing out of all vitamins, minerals, and amino acids during production.

"Its GI, which is the glycemic index, is low, due to which diabetic patients can also consume it in a low amount. Although palm jaggery gives us many benefits, we have to use it in a limited quantity.", says Sharma.

While palm jaggery offers multiple health benefits, moderation is key. According to Sharma, adults can safely consume 1 to 2 teaspoons daily. However, individuals with high blood sugar levels or uncontrolled diabetes should avoid it, as it still contains calories and can spike glucose levels.
