On Wednesday, Bharat Biotech said that painkillers and paracetamol are not suggested for teenagers aged 15-18 years after getting Covaxin vaccine for Covid-19. This is coming after Bharat Biotech recieved feedback that some vaccination centers are suggesting people to take 3 500mg paracetamol tablets along with Covaxin for teenagers. However, they cleared that such a step was not required at all. The vaccine maker company also said that medication is recommended only after consulting a doctor. Covid-19 cases are on a spike again and the third wave has hit our country. Although, the symptoms of omicron variant cases are mild, but it is spreading at an increasing speed.
Bharat biotech company took to their Twitter handle and said, "No paracetamol or painkillers are recommended after being vaccinated with Covaxin." Paracetamol was suggested along with some other COVID-19 vaccines and is not a recommendation for Covaxin, it added. The company said, "Through our clinical trials spanning 30,000 individuals, approximately 10-20 per cent individuals report side effects. Most of these are mild, resolve within 1-2 days, and do not require medication. Medication is only recommended only after you consult a physician."
