The cases of COVID-19 are increasing with speed in the state of Maharashtra. The Bollywood industry has also been gripped in the spread of this deadly virus. In recent times, a lot of Bollywood stars have also been tested positive for COVID-19 including Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, R Madhavan, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Paresh Rawal, Milind Woman, Kartik Aryan, Aamir Khan and Satish Kaushik. Moreover, Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also tested COVID-19 positive a few days ago. The latest names that have been added to the list are Vicky Kaushal and his rumoured girlfriend Katrina Kaif. Meanwhile, celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Malaika Arora have already taken their COVID-19 vaccination. In fact, there is now a weekend lockdown in the state and 8pm-7am curfew amid COVID surge. The malls and cinema halls also will be closed, while eateries and travel have also been restricted till some limit.
Vicky Kaushal gave the news to his fans through social media yesterday. "In spite of all care and precautions, unfortunately, I have tested COVID-19 positive. Following all essential protocols, I am under home quarantine, taking medication as prescribed by my doctor," he wrote in his statement in a post. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif also took to her Instagram handle and made the announcement in a story. The statement read, "I have tested positive for COVID-19. Have immediately isolated myself and will be under home quarantine. I am following all safety protocols under the advice of my doctors." The statement further added, "Requesting everyone who came in contact with me to get tested immediately too. Grateful for all your love and support."

The duo has been spotted roaming around in the city together several times. On the work front, Katrina Kaif will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's directorial Sooryavanshi. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on April 30. Vicky Kaushal was last seen in the horror thriller Bhoot - Part One: The Haunted Ship and has wrapped up the shooting schedule of his upcoming movie Sardar Udham Singh. Meanwhile, as of Monday morning, India has recorded over 1,03,558 new COVID-19 cases, which is the highest daily surge. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country with 57,074 fresh cases on Sunday.
