A disorder that makes falling asleep tough or makes it hard to remain asleep, is known as insomnia. People who suffer from the disorder usually feel tired which created troubles while performing daily activities. Insomnia not only brings down your energy level but it also has some serious implications on your health, work and quality of life. The amount of sleep required varies from individual to individual. Mostly, an adequate amount of sleep is considered to be seven to eight hours a night.
While some people experience insomnia at some point of life, some individuals suffer from the condition in the long term. Insomnia can be a primary problem or can be a secondary problem leading to other problems.

If your doctor feels that you may be suffering from a sleep disorder, you might be referred to a sleep center for a special testing.
