The benefits of vitamin D on health are very much profound. This fat-soluble vitamin helps in the absorption of calcium which is an essential factor that supports bone health. A study published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences stated that vitamin D receptors are also found in cells of the immune system that helps in the production of antimicrobial protein. This antimicrobial protein helps to work against bacteria that cause dental caries. Additionally, the cells that form enamel and dentin also have vitamin D receptors which help to reduce the risk of tooth decay and dental caries.

One of the signs of poor oral health is the development of gum disease. Gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis can cause a lot of pain and discomfort; when these gum diseases are left untreated, they could lead to severe conditions like gum recession, eventually leading to tooth loss. A 2018 study published on the National Library of Medicine portal states that as vitamin D has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antiproliferative effects, its sufficient intake can reduce the risk of gum diseases like gingivitis and chronic periodontitis.

From Where To Get Vitamin D?

Considering the benefit of vitamin D on teeth and overall health, it is important to identify if you are suffering from its deficiency.
