You can do the tissue paper test to determine the type of hair you have. Wash your hair with shampoo. The next day, take a tissue paper and press it on the centre of your head and behind the ears. Remember not to rub the tissue paper on the head. If you find oil on the tissue paper, it means you have oily hair, otherwise your hair is dry.
You can also take a careful look at the hair and tell the type of hair you possess.
There are basically four hair types
- oily hair
- dry hair
- normal hair
- combination hair
Oily hair looks good for a day or two after shampooing. Later, the head feels dirty because strands of hair tend to cling together and make the hair look unattractive. Dry hair is characterised by excessive dryness, brittleness and fragility that cause it to look dull. Normal hair looks good for about a week and is fairly easy to manage. People with combination hair have oily scalp, but dry hair.
