Head lice cause severe itching and can even lead to infection if not cured in time. Pregnant women with head lice need different type of treatment because the general ones involve the use of pesticides which can be harmful for the developing baby. Some alternate methods of lice treatment can be as effective as the conventional methods for treatment of lice.
Some good head lice treatment options for pregnant women are –
Tea Tree Oil
You need to make sure that the tea tree oil you have is pure for this treatment. You can get them from health food stores or drug stores in dropper bottles. The best way to use tea tree oil is to mix it with baby shampoo. Two drops of the oil can be mixed with 120 ml of baby shampoo. Wetting the hair, massage your scalp with this mixture. Rub deep into the scalp when massaging. If the infection is severe, you can add a few more drops of the tea tree oil. Now, let this application on head stay put for half an hour. A shower cap may be useful for this. Rinse the shampoo and remove all traces of nits and eggs from the head. You will find them as tiny dots near the scalp. This process can be repeated if needed.
