Fruits and vegetables contain numerous essential acids such as citric acid, malic acid and tartaric acid which contain prostaglandins that prevents an asthma attack.

Certain minerals such as sodium, magnesium and selenium also prohibit the occurrence of asthma. They ease the bronchial constriction, thus preventing any irritation in the respiratory system causing asthma. A diet rich in nuts, seeds and soya beans is highly effective for asthma patients. Green leafy vegetables contain bioflavonoid, which acts as natural bronchodilator that causes relaxation of muscles of bronchial vessels.
