The health benefits of walnuts are well known. It is one of the healthiest nuts to consume. Walnuts are rich in antioxidants. It may help you reduce inflammation and will promote gut health. It also a well known plant source of omega-3 fat.
According to a recent study, eating a walnut daily can help you lower your blood pressure in people who are at the risk of developing heart diseases. For the research, the saturated fats from the participant's diet was replaced with walnuts. The effect of this change was observed carefully.
The research was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. The researchers from Pennsylvania State University in the US contributed to the study. The study stated that, participants who consumed whole walnut daily along with other saturated fat reported lower blood pressure.

According to the research, the blood pressure of the person gives information about a person's chance of developing a cardiovascular disease. As high blood pressure is a contributor to hear diseases, controlled blood pressure can help in reducing the risk of heart diseases.
For the study 45 participants suffering from obesity were observed between the age group 30-65 age group. "When participants ate whole walnuts, they saw greater benefits than when they consumed a diet with a similar fatty acid profile as walnuts without eating the nut itself," said Penny Kris-Etherton, Professor of Nutrition at the University of Pennsylvania.

"Instead of reaching for fatty red meat or full-fat dairy products for a snack, consider having some skim milk and walnuts," Kris-Etherton concluded.
