COVID-19 has returned once again and is constantly taking on people by its different variant of virus present currently. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also tested positive with COVID-19 virus on Monday evening. Delhi is getting around 4000 fresh COVID-19 cases on a daily basis and it is hard to tell that when this corona virus will end. There are 81% of Omicron cases out of total COVID-19 positive samples in Delhi. The third wave is infecting people at a rapid rate but cases of severity are low. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also said that he has light symptoms and is taking adequate measures to treat it.
Arvind Kejriwal Becomes COVID-19 Positive
Delhi CM tweeted on Monday morning and said that he has been tested positive for COVID-19 virus. He has requested everyone who has been in contact with him in last few days to isolate themselves. There have not been many details on the symptoms he has and the variant from which he has been infected. It is being assumed that Arvind Kejriwal has not been infected with Omicron COVID-19 and has mild corona virus which can be treated in a few days. He was busy in political campaigns for Punjab and was conducting rallies that could become a threat to many people.
Delhi COVID-19 cases
COVID-19 cases in Delhi have been constantly rising from past three days and the positivity rate has reached to 6.46 which are highest in past many months. On Monday, Delhi also recorded a death because of the corona virus. Another thing to worry is that according to Health Minister of Delhi Satyender Jain, most of the cases that are rising are of omicron variant. He has assured people not to panic and take necessary precautions but increase in cases over few days is creating panic among people. As per genome sequencing from 30th December 2021, around 81 per cent of samples were infected with omicron variant of COVID-19 virus.

Omicron And Restrictions
Different governments have imposed restrictions on travel and markets, etc to reduce the infection rate of corona virus. However not much has worked especially in the favour of Delhi. Delhi has colour coded graded response action plan according to which there could be a meeting to make further restrictions.
Currently Delhi is under yellow alert and there are high chances that officials may put a ‘red alert’ straightaway. This would impose a total curfew with only few barring essential services to keep working. This comes in affect after positivity rate hits above 5% for two consecutive days, which is now around 6.4%. Hence a decision to impose further restrictions and guidelines may come soon.
