Elsie has been candid about her constant pain throughout pregnancy. She revealed, in her instagram stories (now expired), that she has been trying to “manage the pain” using a range of approaches: exercises, stretching, physical therapy, acupuncture, and steroid injections. The 29-year-old explained how these therapies work together to help her cope with the intense discomfort, describing how acupuncture and energy healing provide relaxation and pain relief, while steroid shots offer targeted reduction in inflammation.

She also shared what she believes might be driving her suffering. Elsie suspects that her well-known diagnosis of endometriosis is playing a role, and she sees a strong connection to Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a connective tissue disorder.

What Did Elsie Hewitt Try To Get Rid of Her Pregnancy Pain

Elsie listed a long list of pain-management methods she’s turned to, but says none have brought meaningful relief. According to her account:

  • She’s pursued acupuncture to try to reduce pain naturally.
  • She’s done stretching, exercise, and physical therapy in hopes of improving mobility and easing discomfort.
  • She’s explored energy healing, a more holistic approach, believing that mind-body therapies might help.
  • She has accepted steroid shots, a more invasive option, but she said even these haven’t stopped the agony.
  • Despite her efforts, she made it clear that “at this point, if you can think of something … I have tried it.”

Elsie has openly spoken before about her long battle with endometriosis. It is a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain and fertility challenges. She underwent surgery in late 2024 to remove this tissue, partly to preserve her fertility.

Now, she believes that her pain challenges in pregnancy are compounded by Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue condition that can make joints more flexible (or fragile) and affect other tissues. This combination, she feels, might be behind the severe, constant pain she’s experiencing.

How Common Is Severe Pain During Pregnancy?

While Elsie’s experience feels extreme, pain in pregnancy, especially musculoskeletal discomfort, is not uncommon. A global meta-analysis published in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth found that about 40% of expecting mothers report back pain during pregnancy.

Another study in Pain Medicine explored how psychological, social, and biological factors influence pregnancy pain and how it can “interfere” with daily life, especially toward the end of pregnancy.

Conclusion

Elsie Hewitt’s pregnancy journey is far from easy. Her bravery in sharing the depth of her pain and her willingness to try nearly everything help normalise a very real but under-discussed aspect of pregnancy. Her statements remind us that pain during pregnancy isn’t trivial for some; it’s disabling, and that support, medical care, and open conversation are vital.
