As the sun takes over and the cold winters bid adieu, it is time to shake off the gloomy dullness of winter and embrace the bright radiance of summer. The foggy blankets have been drawn and the shiny bright sunlight is finally reaching indoors spreading light and hope. The trees have started to look greener than ever before and the visibility levels have enhanced. But, while the entirety is rejoicing the return of sunlight, your skin might not be as happy.
It’s time ladies and gentlemen we start patching up with our summer skin care and take utmost care of our skins before stepping out in the sun. Yes, the rays of it might feel soothing at start but you might never know the day it starts radiating heat and UV rays on you resulting in tan.
Here are natural de-tanning tips you can try at home without having to buy those expensive chemical laden products.
1. Lemon Juice and Honey Mask
Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent that helps in lightening tan. Honey moisturises the skin and gives a soft texture to it. Squeeze a lemon in a bowl and add 2 teaspoons of honey. Mix them well and apply it to the tanned areas. Leave the mask for about 15-20 minutes and you wash it. You will find a glow as you wipe your skin with towel.
2. Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera has long been used as a medicinal plant and skin care is almost incomplete without it. It helps in soothing the skin by keeping it hydrated and also reduces the tan. Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the affected areas and leave it for around 30 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water.
3. Tomato Mask
According to a research paper, Tomato is rich in vitamins C, E and beta carotene which help in giving a natural glow and brighten the skin, revealing its natural complexion. Blend a ripe tomato to a smooth pulp and apply it on the tanned areas of your skin. Keep the mask on your skin for nearly 15 - 20 minutes before washing it off.
4. Besan And Turmeric Scrub
This is one of the most popular ‘nuskha’ (home remedy) for almost all skin problems in India and trust me it works. I have tried and tested. Gram flour helps in exfoliating your skin and removing dead skin cells and tan. Turmeric radiates the glow and brightens up your complexion. In a bowl, mix two tablespoons of gram flour, a pinch or two of turmeric powder and some milk to form a paste. Apply it on the tanned areas and rub it in circular motions and wash it off after it dries.
Bottomline
Apart from applying these face masks, it is important to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Incorporating these simple de-tanning tips into your daily routine will take care of your de-tanning skin routine and you can welcome the sun happily!
