What Gives Stool Its Color?
The reason behind the color of stool is bilirubin. It is because bilirubin is a byproduct of red blood cells produced in the liver. After it moves to the bladder, it gets mixed with bile juices in your bladder. Bilirubin at this stage passes through your intestines and then it helps to breakdown bacteria and discards it into your feces. In this process, if the bacteria growth or there is any infection in the bladder, then the stool color changes.
What Are Possible Reasons For Yellow Stool?
There are various possible reasons for getting yellow stool. Most of the reasons are related to some disease or disorder which is caused in one of the parts of digestive system. It could also be because of dietary changes and hence result to a number of health problems.
1. Liver and Gallbladder Disorders
There could be a possible reason that you may be having gallbladder disorder or issue which might result to change in stool color. Cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis could affect the bile juices and create problems with digestion and absorption of nutrients. Gallstones could also one of the causes associated with gallbladder and liver disorder that leads to yellow stools. Another problem which might occur with yellow stool if you have any of these disorders is that it causes pain in the stomach and problem during bowel movements.

2. Disorder that affects Pancreas
Pancreas could also be affected and lead to yellow stool in bowel movement. This is because of various disorders which tend to occur in the pancreas. This could be because of these following conditions associated wit pancreas-
- Chronic pancreatitis
- Pancreatic cancer
- Cystic fibrosis
- Issues or blockage in pancreatic duct
3. Celiac Disease
Another reason for having yellow stool is because of celiac disease. This may be one of the most common reasons for having this condition. It is because celiac disease is associated with autoimmune disorder which happens when you have something that has gluten in it. This could be because of eating wheat, rye, barley products which we usually have in our meals. Because of celiac disease, you might be having problems in your small intestines as it damages your tissues as a counter attack.
In this condition, the body is unable to absorb vital nutrients important for the body which results in yellow stool in bowel movements. It is important to know about symptoms of celiac disease to prevent it from affecting your body.

4. Gilbert’s Syndrome
Another important factor which may possibly cause yellow stool in the body is because of Gilbert’s syndrome. Not many people know about this disease but it could lead to quite problematic condition. In this syndrome, the bilirubin levels increase to abnormal levels because of which it affects your liver adversely. In Gilbert’s Syndrome a person may have increased bowel movements, increase tendency to have jaundice and have yellow stools as a result.

5. Giardiasis
This is a less known intestinal infection which is caused because of a parasite. Giardiasis is one of the problems in which you may get yellow stools because it develops cysts in your intestinal tract. This infection may cause indigestion of food and water which affects the body adversely. You may have these symptoms if you have yellow stools because of giardiasis-
- Foul smelling diarrhea
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Sudden weight loss
- Having continuous mild fever
This is a common problem which affects numerous people but since they are not aware of this condition, people get treatment of other conditions related to it such as diarrhea. Giardiasis can be treated by the help of antibiotics at the initial level and not much is needed to be done. This condition could last for several weeks and affect your daily routine at a big level.
