Becoming a Parent makes you Healthier
A new study from the Carnegie Mellon University has found that parenthood not only makes one happy but is also good for health. According to the study, parents are 52% less likely to catch a cold because of the mental toughness after being a parent to a child than those who don’t have kids. The study also said that the more number of kids a person had the stronger he/she was bound to be.
It was observed that while parents, who had one or two children, were about 48% less likely to get ill, those with three or more children were 61% less likely to catch a cold. What stimulated the study was the will to identify the association between parenthood and protectiveness. When the conclusion was arrived at, researchers were surprised to find that the reason why parents were safe from contracting cold after having a child was not because of a strengthened immune system due to constant viral attacks, but mental toughness.
