Be your own beautician on Sunday

beauticianIn today's career world, the appearance counts. Looking after the appearance entails various aspects like regular skin and hair care, exercise, relaxation and tending to small details like paying attention to the hands
and feet. Most working women feel that they are always rushing against the clock. You must ensure that you keep enough time on Sundays to catch up with your beauty needs.

Luxury pre-bath massage: Add a few drops of essential oil of rose or sandalwood to sesame seed (til) oil.  Or, you can use olive oil or sesame seed (til) oil. Give your arms, legs and body a good massage. Rest for a while. You can soak your feet in warm water.

Luxury bath: You can try one of these bath additives. Some of these can remove fatigue, while others replace oils, or relive itching.

Honey bath: Add two tablespoons of honey to a bucket of bath water. It induces relaxation and leaves your skin soft.

Vinegar: Add two tablespoons of vinegar. This helps to relieve itching.

Eau de cologne: Adding a few drops of cologne makes you feel cool.

Rose oil:  Add 2 drops of essential oil of rose to a bucket of bath water.

Sandalwood oil: Essential oil of sandalwood can also be added. 2 to 3 drops are enough.

Almond oil: Add one tablespoon almond oil to your bath water if you have a dry skin.

Powdered milk: Add powdered milk to the bath water. It is good for dry skin.

Epsom salts: If the water is hard, try adding one tablespoon epsom salt.

Exfoliation (scrub): For a body scrub, mix rice powder and almond meal with yogurt and add a pinch of turmeric. Apply. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rub gently with circular movements.

Body massage oil: Add fragrance to oil and derive aromatherapy benefits from it. To 50 ml olive oil or sesame seed oil, add 8 drops of essential oil. Choose one essential oil from rose, lavender, neroli, jasmine, lotus, etc.

After-bath body lotion: Mix together 100 ml rose water with one tablespoon pure glycerine. Keep in a bottle.

Body and face mask: Mix ripe papaya pulp with two parts honey, two parts yogurt, two parts powdered dried orange and lemon peel and 3 parts oatmeal. Apply on face/body and wash it off.

Beauty bundle for bath: An ideal way of using natural ingredients is to tie ingredients in a clean cloth, wet slightly and then rub the cloth bag on the skin. You can use besan, oatmeal, dry and ground mint leaves, rose petals, almond meal and turmeric powder.

Tips:  Give your body a scrub with a sponge. If you have a dry skin, use glycerine soap. After drying the body, apply a moisturising lotion. You can also use your Sunday, to give yourself a manicure, or touch-up your nail polish. Apply a face mask and while it is drying, soak cotton wool pads in chilled rose water and apply over the eyelids.

Kaya Skin Clinic suggested hair removal through laser treatment.  But this is very expensive, so it would be great if you could give me some other solution.

If you are referring to facial hair, you can go to a beauty salon & have a combination of threading or waxing.  At home you can make a thick paste of sugar, lemon juice & water, apply it in the direction of hair growth. Wash off when it dries. You can also apply a paste of turmeric powder and milk. It is said to discourage facial hair, but it may leave a slight yellowish colour on the skin.
