You may have picked the best quality olive oil at your last visit to the supermarket. You may be wrong to keep it for special occasions and not use it for everyday cooking and food preparations. You don't Fry with it
You may have heard from someone that olive oil is not the oil to fry. The truth is – olive oil does not have an extremely low smoke point and you can deep fry food in it. So, there is no reason for you to not cook with olive oil. The oil can be used for shallow frying, deep frying and barbequing.
You don’t consume it
You may have heard the health benefits of olive oil are only point to amount of 2-3 tablespoons a day, whether it is heart disease, blood pressure, cancer or cognitive function. Don’t worry that cooking with olive oil will add more calories. You will be within your calories even if you consume this amount of olive oil daily.
You buy, but never check the label
It may not be olive oil that you have bought. Check out the label to make sure it is of a genuine quality. If you don’t pay attention to the label, you may get a low quality olive oil that is refined physically and chemically.
Olive oil should be mild tasting
If you prefer mild tasting olive oil, you aren’t using it fresh. Olive oil should not taste buttery but an oily feel is what olive oil is about. Fresh olive oil has some bitterness and a bit peppery.
