Fiber is a food ingredient which tends to travel quickly and in a relatively easy manner, through a person’s digestive tract. Hence, fiber foods are considered key constituents of a a healthy diet. The highest fiber content foods include.

  • Fruits – Raspberries have the highest content of fiber amongst all the fruits. Pears and apples when eaten with skin offer a lot of fiber. Bananas are also a good source of fiber.
  • Vegetables – Artichoke and Peas have the highest fiber content. Broccoli, turnip greens, sweet corn, potatoes and carrots are also quite rich in fiber.
  • Other food items - Split peas, lentils and black beans have really high fiber content. Also, whole wheat spaghetti, barley and oatmeal are considered to be abundant sources of fiber.

All these food items are easily available and should be a part of everyone’s regular diet. Consumption of these food items will ensure a proper fiber intake and overall good health.
