Your face is the mirror to your soul. So, before going under the knife you have to think twice. The minutest of all changes on the face can give you scars for a lifetime. So, you must measure all the pros and cons before going for a plastic surgery and know if for sure if it’s meant for you or not. Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery done to give the nose a new shape. The plastic surgery for nose can change its the size, alter the angle in relation to the upper lip, can modify the tip, and rectify all other defects.
During the surgery, the surgeon makes a slit to have an access to the bones and cartilage that support the nose. The slit is made in a way that it does not show after the surgery. The bone and cartilage are adjusted as desired and then rearranged.

A strap will be placed outside the nose in order to provide support to the new shape as the nose heals. The bandage will be removed after a week after which you will see puffiness on the face. The area around your eyes and nose will also look swollen for days. The swelling and bruises will take approximately 2 weeks to heel. You may also have to keep your head elevated without much motion for several days after the surgery. It may take you weeks to start participating in physically challenging activities again.

Uses

Rhinoplasty is done to reshape, resize, or rectify any defects on the nose. The surgery is also done to bring the nose into a better proportion with rest of your face. The structural corrections made during the surgery can help you fight chronic congestion and breathing problems.

The results of the surgery may vary depending on the type of correction made. The results are permanent however the appearance may be altered due to any external injuries on the nose after the surgery. Such surgeries are performed only on fully developed nose, i.e., only on females aged above 15 or 16 and males aged above 17 or 18.

Risks

Apart from temporary swelling and bruises on the face you may experience the following troubles as a result of the surgery:

  • Bleeding
  • Injury on the septum
  • Skin problems
  • Infection
  • Nasal blockage

You may also end up not having the desired results from the surgery which you wished for.

Before tampering with your face you must know its repercussions thoroughly so that the scars do not haunt you for the rest of your life.
