Are stress and heart disease inter-related?


Yes, stress and heart disease are inter-related. Stress over the long term leads to high blood pressure which in turn leads to heart disease. Long term stress may also lead to dysfunction of other organs that in turn may affect the heart.

Certainly patients with long term depression are more prone to early onset of heart disease; however this may be also because of other reasons than depression itself.
