Nurture yourself

American philosopher once said “A man may esteem himself happy when that which is his food is also his medicine”. Core concept of anti-ageing diet plan recommends eating brightly coloured foods and whole grains that contain variety of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.

A powerful antioxidant in grapes and red wine, called resveratrol, helps reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, and premature aging. You must give more time and thought to meal planning, shopping, storing and preparing your meals.

Since ages almonds have been considered as an anti-ageing food because of the high content of Vitamin E. It is great for healthy skin, hair and nails. Walnuts are a rich source of Vitamin E and having a handful can help your skin look great.

Cucumbers are excellent as anti-ageing food and improve tired and dehydrated skin. The high water content and high amounts of silica present in them helps to get a smooth and glowing skin.

If you do not drink at least 2-3 litres of water every day, your skin might wrinkle faster. Water provides the much-required hydration and keeps wrinkles at bay.

Exercise regularly

Fitness is a youth serum- it is a fact! It’s no secret that working out keeps you younger—both in terms of energy you will have and your physical ability to keep doing the things you love. Physical therapist and fitness expert Maureen Hagan recommends 240 minutes of cardio exercises per week is optimal for heart health.

Include some moves where you cross your legs and arms over the midline of your body. The connection between the right and left hemispheres of your brain deteriorates as you age.

Sleep enough

Your anti-ageing efforts in the morning should be about protection; in the evening about reversal and rejuvenation. While you sleep at night, the skin cells turnover, older skin cells shed off and leave skin glowing, and certain ingredients take advantage of this biological process.

Drink green or red tea

Tea extracts are some of the best antioxidants to protect skin against pollution and everyday stress. Better if you drink tea in evening. Because skin is relaxed and less exposed to the damaging free radicals like environmental pollution and ultraviolet rays present during the day, green or red tea can also soothe tired, swollen eyes on their own— with no extra products necessary.

Until we have a better understanding, it is a good idea to be sceptical of claims that any supplements can solve your age-related problems. But resorting to these lifestyle changes do not pose any risks or side-effects to your overall health, and can help you counter ageing.
