A diabetic child frequently feels urge to empty their bladder, especially in the night. So they are prone to excessive frequent urination. When body glucose is not able to enter into body cells it gets accumulated in the blood, thus leading the patient to pass lot of urine.
Your child will start frequently feeling thirsty. The excessive glucose in bloodstream of child pulls out the fluid from body tissues. Loss of fluid from the tissue makes child thirsty.
If excessive sugar present in blood extracts fluid even from the eye lenses. This hampers their ability to focus.
Diabetic child tends to feel hungry most of the times. They often have large meals but still feel that they are hungry, this is due decreased insulin level. Insufficient amount of insulin in the blood cell deplete energy of muscles and other organs of the child.
Unexplained weight loss is one of the first sign of diabetes in children. In diabetes type one the fat stores of muscle tissue shrink as there is not enough supply of energy sugar. Even though you will notice that your child is eating a lot but still there is decrease in body weight.
If your child is constantly feeling fatigue and out of breathes even after little physical work then it is wise to take him for diabetes test. The stamina and resistance of a diabetic child goes down because the sugar present in blood is not able to convert into energy. In some of the cases child may turn pale due to anemia.
A child with type 1 diabetes may seem moody and irritable. Besides this they are not very active and need fair amount of rest for controlling their nervous system.
Babies with type I diabetes can develop diaper rash due to yeast infection. A girl with type I diabetes can even develop genital yeast infection.
