1. Brush your hair before showering

Brushing hair before showering helps in detangling the hair which makes the hair break less during the wash. It also helps in distributing the natural oils from the scalp to the ends of the hair. Additionally, likewise it is easier to style hair post-shower as it is already smooth and tangle-free.

2. Use a conditioner

Applying a hair conditioner post shampooing helps hair to get rid of lack of hydration. Start from the mid-shaft and work it down till the end of the hair. It is also suggested to people who avidly use dry shampoo. 

3. Apply hair masks regularly

In order to keep strands hydrated and smooth, use a moisturising hair mask or deep conditioner at least once a week. You may use it more frequently if you use heating tools regularly. Masks will leave your hair feeling soft and shiny without weighing them down.

4. Maintain a healthy diet

It is a popular saying that we are what we eat. Our hair is mostly made up of protein. Therefore, eating a balanced diet that is rich in protein, and vitamins is very important. These food items may include:

  • Any food rich in vitamin C and E

5. Water temperature

As soothing as a steamy shower may feel, taking a super hot shower on a daily basis can irritate the scalp and possibly weaken your hair. Therefore, keep the temperature on the warm side and at the end of the shower, quickly rinse your hair with cold-water to seal the cuticles shut, boost shine, and maintain healthy hair. 

 6. Chop chop

You need regular haircuts to ensure that your strands stay healthy and don't break off at the ends or cause them to frizz. If you don't want to lose a lot of length, ask your hairstylist for just a "dusting," so only the tips are chopped, which gets rid of damaged ends, but maintains the length. Most hair stylists recommend going for a trim every two months.
