Skin Discolouration during Pregnancy
During pregnancy many women experience spots or patches on their skin. Know more about skin discoloration during pregnancy and solutions for this.
During pregnancy many women experience blotches of dark pigmentation on the face. Women of dark complexion are more prone to this problem than lighter complexioned women. The pregnancy hormones are the cause behind this phenomenon, and exposure to the sun can be a cause too. In pregnant women, pigmentation is also seen as a thin line running from the navel to the pubic bone called as linea nigra. In most of the cases, skin pigmentation fades away after pregnancy but you need to be patient.
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 to protect your skin from further pigmentation.
- Use non-perfumed creams and lotions which are gentle on skin so as not to irritate the skin further.
- Use light foundation or concealer to cover up the skin pigmentations.
- Do not use skin-lightening or bleaching agents on the skin while you are pregnant without consulting your doctor.
