The icy temperature of slushies can cause a phenomenon known as “brain freeze,” which occurs when cold substances rapidly cool the blood vessels in the mouth and throat, triggering sharp pain in the head. Additionally, consuming very cold beverages too quickly can lead to stomach discomfort, bloating, and indigestion.
3. Artificial Colors and Flavors May Have Harmful Effects
Many slushies contain artificial colours and flavours, which have been linked to negative health effects. Studies suggest that certain food dyes, such as Red 40 and Yellow 5, may contribute to hyperactivity and behavioural issues in children.
