On March 10, the DDA Park located in Vasant Kunj's Ganga Yamuna Apartment witnessed an event on health and wellness. It was arranged by the Senior Citizen Forum of India. With a notable attendance of over 300 individuals, the event, led by the Kanchan Garg, showcased a collective endeavour to elevate healthcare standards for our seniors.
In an era where healthcare often becomes a secondary concern, especially for the elder demographic, the initiative by the Senior Citizen Forum of India, with OnlyMyHealth as its media partner, deserves a moment of appreciation.
Highlighting Comprehensive Health Services
The health and wellness event garnered support from an array of distinguished guests including Sh Naresh Yadav, Shri Sahiram Pehalwan, Counsellor Rajesh Pawar, and celebrated athletes like Ms Prachi Tokas, Ms Pinky Balhara, and Mrs Deepti Chhibber, thereby enhancing the prestige and impact of the occasion.
The event offered a wide range of free health screenings and consultations in collaboration with esteemed institutions such as the Indian Spine Injury Hospital and Centre of Sight. Also, from eye examinations to advanced bone mass density tests, and even comprehensive 24-hour blood pressure profiling, the services aimed at early detection and management of age-related health conditions, emphasising the importance of accessible healthcare for all attendees.
Enlightening Health Talks by Medical Experts
A major highlight of the day was the series of insightful health talks by top specialists from the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre. Topics covered ranged from spinal health, stroke prevention, cardiac health, to fatty liver and joint care, offering attendees valuable knowledge and preventative strategies against common health issues. These talks underscored the importance of maintaining one’s health through lifestyle changes and early detection, equipping the senior community with the tools to lead healthier, more vibrant lives.
Kanchan Garg, The founder of Senior Citizen Forum of India said, “ we need to take care of our elder generation as they did when we needed them, and now it's our duty to give them the best healthcare and time so that they can also enjoy their retirement life to the fullest”. Her vision of nurturing a pan-India movement to provide support for elder care resonated deeply with the audience.
The event not only served as a platform for essential health services and education but also marked a significant stride in community health empowerment, leaving attendees with a renewed commitment to their wellbeing and that of their peers.
Through the zeal of the Senior Citizen Forum of India, the expertise of the participating medical professionals, and the support from the guests of honour, the health talk and free health checkup camp achieved monumental success.
