Almost all of us tend to ease up on wearing sunscreen as soon as the weather turns cooler. The temperature may drop during cold weather but that does not change anything about sun’s harmful rays. UVA radiations are as harmful in winters as they are in summer. No need to mention that when you are exposed to sun, these rays reach deeper into the skin and contribute to wrinkles while prolonged exposure can increase the risk of cancer. Therefore, use of sunscreen should not be limited to summer alone. If you are still not convinced, below are some reasons that might change your mind.
- Contrary to popular belief, Earth is actually closer to the sun during winter season.
- The ozone layer is at its thinnest, according to the National Science Polar Programs UV monitoring network.
- Chilling temperature and harsh wind can damage your skin, leaving it dry.
