One of the biggest pillars in our fight against cancer is early detection. Getting a cancer diagnosis before time can help you seek timely treatment while the cancer is still in its early stages. Once cancer reaches an advanced stage, that is when things start getting out of control and pose a greater risk to your health and mortality.
To encourage early detection of cancer, Fortis Cancer Institute, Vasant Kunj, in collaboration with OnlyMyHealth organised a mega event to raise awareness about early detection of cancer and its treatments. The event was held in New Delhi on February 10th, 2024
At the event, Fortis Cancer Institute launched a free mammography van for all RWA members of Vasant Kunj & Vasant Vihar. Mammography is both a diagnostic and a screening tool, which uses an X-ray imaging method to examine the breast for breast cancer or any other related diseases. The van will be stationed at the nominated RWAs where the members can avail a mammography, in addition to multiple other checks ups completely free of charge, and seek early detection and timely treatment.
The event saw a total of 760 participants, out of which, many were from the Rotary Club of Delhi West, Vasant Kunj and Vasant Vihar, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of both areas. Additionally, many cycle groups, namely 7XCC, Runbaaz Athletes, Happy Paddlers Club, Army Cadets Cycling Group, Bicycle Club Vasant Kunj, Urban Cyclist Dwarka, Mehrauli Riders, and South DelhiCyclists enthusiastically participated in the event.

Khurafati Nitin, or RJ Nitin, graced the event as the Guest of Honour and shared how overwhelmed he felt to see so many people come early morning for this fantastic event. During his interaction with the crowd, Nitin emphasised the importance of early detection of cancer and its timely treatment. After the flag-off, Nitin interacted with the crowd and yoga participants.
