eating disorder treatmentGrowing evidences show how much of an impact diet have on the brain function and also identifies the patterns which are associated with eating disorders. These studies can be of great help when it comes to treating disorders like obesity and anorexia.

In the study by Jonathan Downar, MD, PhD, he mentions – “Targeted magnetic stimulation of the brain reduces the symptoms of severe eating disorders, including bingeing and purging. These findings may represent a new treatment tool for patients with eating disorders.” (abstract 540.01)

Other researchers such as Noelle Anastasio have mentioned in her study that rats that are naturally impulsive tend to consume more calories on a binge. The findings have led to believe that this may be due to an imbalance in the brain’s serotonin system.
Samantha Gardener further says in her study, “Consuming a diet of red meat and processed foods is linked to a decline in verybal memory in the elderly after just 36 months”

All these could lead to only one direction, that diet does in fact have a great impact on the functioning of one’s brain.
