Water is an essential part of our diet. 60 % of the human body is made up of water. It is the basic need for survival. You can include water in your diet by many ways other than just drinking a glass of water like eating fruits and vegetables rich in water. Dehydration occurs when your body lacks water. Without enough water, your body cannot function properly. You may suffer from various health issues if you do not drink enough water. Water is required for the continuous functioning of the body. You might not notice that your body lacks water. Here are a few signs which can warn you that you are not drinking enough water.
Dry skin is one of the earliest signs of dehydration in the body. It includes scaling, itching and cracking of skin. Your skin needs a proper amount of water to stay healthy. You will also notice a lack of elasticity in your skin due to lack of moisture. You will also develop dry eyes. Your tear ducts will dry up and there would be low or no tear production. It can harm your eyes, especially if you wear contact lenses.

When your body lacks water, you do not sweat. You would notice that even after working out you do not sweat. Sweat is very necessary to regulate your body's temperature. If you are dehydrated, your body would not get enough water to produce sweat. This will lead to accumulation of oil and dirt as your body won't be able to wash away excess dirt and oil. This can also lead to a rise in body's temperature. You should drink more water in order to keep your body free from excess dirt and oil.
Dehydration leads to joint pain as our spinal disc and cartilage are made up of 80% of water. When your connective tissues lose water you are more prone to physical injuries and you also suffer from inflammation very often. Proper hydration ensures that your joints get enough to function properly. It will reduce inflammation as well less will not lead to any kind of unnecessary pain.

Dehydration is one of the most common causes of constipation. The moisture of the food is absorbed by the large intestine mainly which leads to constipation. Enough moisture is very necessary for your digestive system. If you do not drink enough water you are more likely to suffer from constipation on a regular basis.
When you drink less water your brain tissues loses water which causes a headache. Dehydration also lowers the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain which leads to dilated blood vessels in the brain which causes swelling and inflammation. You must intake more fluids other than water. You can also eat fruits high in water content like watermelon, pineapple, oranges etc.
