It is believed that skin care is mostly limited to women. This may be due to the marketing, which mostly centres around women. Since skin is related to many illnesses eczema to cancers, taking care of it should be in our general routine. It should not be restricted to a certain gender and should be encouraged by everyone, including men. This is an article for every man who has not started taking care of his skin. Here are some essential skin care tips every man should follow.

Wash Your Face 

Firstly, the easiest way to ensure your skin stays healthy is by washing it with water. Washing rejuvenates your face, eliminating dust and dirt. Ideally, you should wash your face with regular water twice a day. Do not use products containing harsh chemicals. Make sure that you do not overwash your face, as it is also detrimental to your skin.

Use Moisturiser

Do not leave your moisturiser behind. Applying a moisturiser is a healthy way you can trap water in your skin. This will make your skin look healthy and hydrated. You can use moisturisers that are organic in nature, like coconut oil.

Sunscreen

Along with moisturiser, you should also make sure that your skin is protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun. When going out in the sun, apply sunscreen, which is suited for your skin type. Make sure that your sunscreen's SPF is in the range of 30 to 50. You should apply it on your face, neck, and exposed areas of the body when going out in the sun.

Stay Hydrated & Avoid Oily, Spicy Food

While applying moisturiser traps water on your skin, it would be best if you drink an adequate amount of water. Staying hydrated is not only good for your gut but also for your skin too. Along with this, your diet also has an impact on the skin. So make sure you avoid oily and spicy foods and have more fruits and green leafy vegetables. This will make your skin healthy, active, and glowy.

Shaving Habits

There is a common habit in men to shave right before they take a bath. But it would be best if you shave after taking a shower. This is because, after a bath, your hair gets softened and easy to shave. Also, while shaving, make sure that you do it in the direction of hair growth and not the opposite. Choose the blade or a razor which stays close to your skin while shaving. And after you are done shaving, use a moisturiser or an aftershave to protect and reduce skin irritation.

Scrub Your Face Once A Week

Scrubbing helps you exfoliate dead skin cells, makes you look rejuvenated and healthy. You can exfoliate your face using homemade scrub, like mixing sugar, honey, and lemon juice. Do this at least once every week to see the impact on the skin.

Massage Gently

Another common tendency in men is to be very harsh and massage skin very roughly while applying any cream or lotion. This practice does not give any benefit to your skin. So make sure you make very gentle movements while applying creams on your face.

Importantly, check your skin regularly to see if there is any abnormality. If there is itchiness or an unknown bruise on your skin, make sure you talk to your dermatologist to know the cause and treatment.
