Benefits of AlmondEating almonds could be one of the best health choices you may have ever made. The results of new study showed that almonds can reduce the risk of heart disease decreasing belly fat, the hazardous type of fat that can encircle the organs. The central abdominal fat is a component of the metabolic syndrome which acts as a risk factor for developing premature coronary artery disease.

Cardiovascular disease is an indication of some major health problem which can be fatal. However, there can be diets which can be healthy for the heart and can include some specific nuts like almonds. These diets can play a significant role in treating and preventing progression of heart disease, even in people who are on medications for lowering cholesterol levels.

The findings of this study were published online in the Journal of American Heart Association.

The study claimed that eating 1.5 ounces of almonds everyday along with a heart healthy diet could improve cholesterol and lipid profiles among research participants.

In this study, it was found that eating almonds reduces both the bad cholesterol level and the total cholesterol. Also, it was found that along with an improved lipid profile, central adiposity was also reduced. When there is an excess of belly fat, it works as a risk factor for premature heart disease.
