Acne and pimples are extremely irritating. These unwelcoming guests affect your appearance and give pain that stays as long the acne lives. Well, acne just doesn't mean a red pimple with pus but blackheads are also a kind of acne. Blackheads are oxidized residues of sebum, bacteria, and skin cell buildup. It looks like a tiny black spot on the face. Medically, blackheads are also called as open comedo.

Tips get rid of blackheads:

  • Daily face cleansing is a must.
  • Exfoliate with a natural scrub such as Walnut scrub twice a week.

Similar to blackheads, these are common but not as visible a blackhead. These little white bumps are build-ups of dead cells and sebum that is secreted by your skin. These are also counted as pimples and highly common with people who have oily skin type. The medical term for whiteheads as closed comedo.


  • Regular cleansing with a herbal cleanser.
  • Exfoliate 2-3 times a week.
  • Avoid eating oily foods.



Cysts are often caused due to blocked skin pores. These mainly occur due to hormonal changes and lie under the skin which makes them painful with the slow-healing process. These could trigger skin infections if left untreated for long. You must see a dermatologist if you get cysts. These are delicate and therefore should be taken care of well to avert any major skin problem.

The appearance of pustules is similar to zits. It looks like a bubble on the skin with pus inside it. These might look non-disturbing and painless but it is not good for your skin. Also, you wouldn't want any girl to see these. Unlike blackheads and whiteheads, pustules can be easily popped out. They will deflate easily and don't leave behind any scar.

Here's how to do it:

  • Dip a clean cloth in hot water.
  • Place the wet cloth on the spot.
  • Now pop the pustule.
  • This would prevent any infection.


A papule is a small red inflamed bumps on the skin which is painful and infection-causing. Generally, this doesn't occur alone but a cluster of papules that can cause an infection or rashes such as eczema, dermatitis and other allergic reactions.

Solution: Spot treatments and papules drying lotions may help to get rid of this painful acne. However, use any product after consulting a dermatologist.

Just like cysts, a nodule is the aggressive form of acne. The only difference between cyst and nodule is that nodules don't have pus in them. Nodules cause a red bump under the dermal layer and the pain is felt on the skin's surface.
