
The basis to measure diabetes is by taking into account the blood sugar level. It is important for a diabetic to keep a check of this since neglect can cause cardio-vascular diseases and further complications.
The following points must be kept in mind while checking diabetes:
- An average blood sugar level is 4 to 8mmol/l. But, it is the lowest in the morning and highest after meals. A deviation form the ideal must be checked. This is usually done before meals or 90 minutes after it.
- A diabetic must go for a check up at least twice a month.
- The oft-used measure for diabetes is the finger prick method whereby, the device detects the blood on the lancet and provides the count.
