How to Identify Emotions in Kids?

Emotions can be described as intense feelings, which are either positive or negative. For younger children, emotions can be difficult to comprehend. They can get overwhelmed by different emotions, so appropriate emotional development is necessary to behave in socially acceptable ways.  As a parent you should help your child develop skills to control these various emotions. It is difficult for parents to understand their children’s emotional state. You should take time to observe them and find the probable cause of the underlying emotions. Teach them to understand and label the different kinds of emotions, i.e. happiness and sadness. Explain that it is alright to experience different emotions. Encourage them to talk about their feelings instead of keeping them bottled up inside.  Explain – for instance – that it is okay to feel angry but they cannot hurt or destroy something just because they feel rage. Teach them to have appropriate emotion for any situation, i.e. if they laugh when you are scolding them, then that is not acceptable. By taking care of their misplaced emotions, you can help them behave in a suitable way.
