Dandruff is a common hair problem of shedding of hair skin from scalp. It is commonly believed that dandruff is mainly caused due to scalp dryness, poor hygiene and abusive hair styling. According to another believe the real cause of dandruff is a fungus called malassezia. This article brings to you various ways to get rid of this annoying and embarrassing hair condition.

 

Fenugreek Seeds


Fenugreek seeds are one of the effective home remedies of dandruff, especially for those who are suffering from dry hair. Soak two tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight and ground them in morning to form a fine paste. Apply the paste all over the scalp and leave for half an hour. Use soap nut (amla) and Acacia concinna (shikakai) to wash your hair. You can even use cotton to apply this solution to your scalp. For the first two weeks use this anti-dandruff treatment twice a week and then once a week.

 

Fresh Lime Juice


Lemon juice is an excellent home remedy for oily dandruff. When you wash your hair, use water with a tablespoon of fresh lime juice for the final rinse. Besides removing dandruff this home remedy removes stickiness and gives instant shine to your hair.


You can prepare a hair mask by mixing lemon juice and fuller’s earth. This pack deeply cleanses your scalp and helps to get rid of dandruff.


Green Gram Powder


Mix two spoon of green gram powder with a cup of curd and wash your hair using this mixture. Use this treatment twice a week to get rid of dandruff.

 

Beets


Beet is an effective remedy for dandruff. Boil a beet along with its root in water. Gently massage this water into your scalp before going to bed. Leave overnight and wash it on the next morning.

 

Snake Gourd


Snake gourd extract is known as effective remedy for dandruff. Gently massage this juice on your scalp. To increase its effectiveness mix beet juice to it.

 

Cider Vinegar


Dilute cider vinegar by mixing equal quantity of water and dab it on hair with cotton wool. Leave for 10 minutes and wash. You can also use cider vinegar by adding to the final rinsing water after shampooing.


Yogurt


Apply sour yoghurt and gently massage hair for about half an hour. To maximize its effectiveness against dandruff mix few drops of tea tree oil before applying on scalp.


Antidandruff Shampoo

 

If you want to go easy way and prefer shampoo to tackle your dandruff then use the shampoo with zinc pyrithione. It fights dandruff by killing fungal infections of scalp.
