Dr Srivastav shared that studies suggest that a deficiency in vitamin D has been linked to conditions like osteoporosis, heart disease, and even certain cancers. In severe cases, it can lead to rickets (in children) or osteomalacia (in adults), both of which cause weakened bones and a higher risk of fractures.

Vitamin D is known as the ‘sunshine vitamin’ because your skin produces it in response to sunlight. Therefore, aim for 10-30 minutes of sunlight exposure several times a week, depending on your skin tone and location.

Vitamin B12 is found primarily in animal products such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians and vegans are particularly at risk and may need to rely on fortified plant-based foods like nutritional yeast and fortified plant milk.

Vitamin B12 supplements are widely available in various forms, including sublingual tablets and injections, which may be recommended for those with absorption issues or dietary restrictions.
Vitamin A Deficiency

A severe deficiency can lead to night blindness, a weakened immune response, and increased susceptibility to infections. Expert revealed that vitamin A deficiency can even result in permanent blindness, especially in children in developing countries.
