Winter can take a toll on those with high blood pressure. The reasons that contribute to this are inactive lifestyle, increased consumption of salt and constrained blood vessels due to cold weather.
Keep a Check on BP Level
Keep a close tab on your blood pressure level and maintain a record of the fluctuations observed in it. If you notice any major increase in your blood pressure, you must see a doctor.
Stay Active
It is very necessary to maintain an active lifestyle during winters. If you have stopped or reduced your physical activities, you must resume them. Physical activities help to reduce high blood pressure as they strengthen the heart muscles and also lower the risk of heart attack.
Weight Control
Weight gain is one of the major factors that increase blood pressure. Therefore, it is advisable to keep your weight on a lower side. Plan a healthy diet for yourself in order to keep a check on high blood pressure in winter. Also, drink plenty of water as it helps in removal of unhealthy toxics from the body.
Do not indulge in Exhausting Activities
Do not indulge in exhausting activities as it will create unnecessary pressure on your heart which will in turn increase your blood pressure. In spite of taking all the above mentioned measures, if your blood is not lowering, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Abide by the aforementioned and you will be able to control high blood pressure in winter.
