After bravely battling for life for 13 days, the Delhi gang rape victim has succumbed to her injuries in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. The victim was reported to have breathed her last at 2: 15 a.m. (IST) on Saturday morning.
The doctors at the Singapore hospital claim that it was cerebral edema i.e. a dangerous medical condition that causes the brain to swell with fluid and restricts the movement of blood and oxygen that caused her death. It was a CT scan taken in Singapore that showed that blood loss caused during the 3-minutes that doctors at Safdarjung failed to find blood pressure or pulse to be the reason for cerebral edema.
The victim was flown to the hospital on Thursday morning to be given the best of treatment after she had suffered a cardiac arrest in India. The doctors working on her in Singapore had said that she had suffered significant injury to her brain, but was surviving against all odds. The victim had already undergone three abdominal surgeries in India before she was flown to Singapore.
