Simple Makhana Kheer Recipe To Eat After Mahashivratri Fast

Ingredients

Fox nuts, One litre milk, half cup powdered jaggery, three teaspoon sliced almonds, two teaspoon sliced pistachios, one teaspoon cardamom powder, and one teaspoon ghee.

Roasted Makhanas

Take a heavy bottomed pan and add ghee to it. Once the ghee melts, add fox nuts to it and roast until golden and crisp.

Grind Makhana

After roasting, keep half makhanas aside and grind half of them using a mortar and pestle until crushed properly.

Boil Milk

After grinding makhanas, take a heavy bottomed pan, add milk and boil it for 10 minutes on medium flame, until it thickens.

Mix Well

Once the milk thickens, add both roasted and grinded makhanas to the milk. Mix well and simmer for five minutes to achieve a creamy and soft texture.

Sweetner

After five minutes, add cardamom powder and powdered jaggery to the kheer and stir, until the jaggery is well combined in the kheer.

Garnish and Serve

Add sliced almonds and pistachios as garnish and your makhana kheer (foxnut pudding) is ready to be served.
