What Is Piles?

Piles are inflamed and swollen, a collection of tissues in the anal area. They can have a range of sizes, whether internal or external.

Causes of Piles

Piles happens due to increased pressure in the lower rectum. The blood vessels around the anus and in the rectum stretch under pressure and may swell or bulge, forming piles.

Symptoms Of Piles

Usually, the symptoms of piles are not severe. They typically resolve on their own after a few days. Hence, a person with piles may experience or have these symptoms.

#1 Painful Lump

A stiff, typically painful lump may be felt around the anus. It may contain coagulated blood, which has blood called thrombosed external haemorrhoids.

#2 Feeling Of Fullness

After passing the stool, a person with piles may experience the feeling that the bowels are still full.

#3 Bloody Stool

People with piles usually complain about bright red blood visible after a bowel movement.

#4 Abnormalities

Piles affect the area around the anus, which causes itchiness, redness, and soreness, which can be very disturbing.

#5 Pain

People with piles may experience pain while passing stool. It can be mild to extreme.

Severe Condition

In some cases, piles can escalate into more severe conditions; This includes excessive anal bleeding, faecal incontinence, anal fistula, and strangulated haemorrhoid.

People can lower their risk of developing with various lifestyle alterations. In most cases, piles resolve on their own. However, visible, painful piles may require surgery to remove them.
