Half cup moong dal, soaked and drained, two tbsp ghee, one cup water, one cup coconut milk, three fourth cup Jaggery, a pinch of salt, one tsp cardamom powder, one tbsp ghee, one fourth cup cashew nuts, ghee roasted.

Make Jaggery Syrup

Dissolve jaggery in two tbsp water, filter the syrup, and set it aside for use later.

Roast Moong Dal

Heat ghee, add moong dal, roast till golden and fragrant, and stir well so that it gets evenly roasted, for the perfect flavour and texture.

Cook the Dal

Add water and coconut milk and stir well. Cook thoroughly and mash the dal using the back of a ladle.

Add Jaggery Syrup and Flavorings

Pour jaggery syrup, whisk continuously, bring to a boil then add salt and cardamom powder. Cook for five minutes.

Rest and Serve

Turn off the heat, add ghee, cover with a lid, and rest for 5-7 minutes. Garnish with roasted cashews, and serve hot.
