Ingredients
4-5 amla, one large tomato, 1-2 green chilli, one tablespoon of curry leaves, two cups water, two tablespoons rasam powder, half a tablespoon of turmeric powder, salt to taste, half a cup of toor tal, one tablespoon of sugar or jaggery powder, two tablespoons of coriander leaves, 1-2 tablespoons of ghee, one tablespoon of mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), and one dry red chilli.
Prepare amla
Start by thoroughly washing amla and removing the seeds. Cut the amla into smaller pieces.
Grind ingredients
Take a mixer and add garlic, amla pieces, ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves, black pepper, cumin seeds, and tomatoes. Grind it into a smooth paste.
Cook rasam
Take a pan and add the grinded paste with water, turmeric, and salt. Cook it on a low flame and let it boil for 5-10 minutes.
Add toor dal
Now, add the cooked toor dal to the pan and stir it well. Let it boil for another five minutes and add coriander leaves.
Prepare tempering
Take a pan and heat some ghee and add mustard seeds, red chillies, curry leaves, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Add tempering on coked rasam and mix well.
