A piercing is a fun addition to our lifestyle, whether it's a nose or ear piercing, but proper aftercare is crucial to avoid complications after getting a new piercing. Here are some tips for piercing aftercare. Tap to read!
Leave in the piercing
After getting a new piercing, keep the jewellery in for at least six weeks and avoid removing it as there’s a chance the piercing may close up.
Prevent Infection
To prevent infection, always wash your hands before touching it. Clean your piercings with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser, and water for the same.
Keep Moist
Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly around the piercings to prevent transferring of germs from the container in which you store the jewellery.
Rinse Thoroughly
After washing the jewellery, rinse it thoroughly to ensure no soap is left behind. Make sure that no water touches the fresh piercing, as it can damage the healing skin.
Keep an Eye
If your piercing becomes red, swollen, or sore, it may be infected. If the swelling or redness persists and starts to pain, consult a dermatologist immediately.
