COVID-19 spreads faster than the flu (influenza). COVID-19 can be contagious longer, whereas influenza has a shorter period.

Caused by

COVID-19 are caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus (a novel coronavirus), whereas influenza is caused by influenza A or B viruses.

Symptoms

Signs you may feel during COVID-19 are fever, cough, loss of taste/smell, body aches and shortness of breath. Influenza you feel fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches and fatigue.
