As there are certain food items that increase the severity of symptoms of some illnesses. Arthritis is a health problem in which patients suffer from sudden increase and decrease in joint pains. Joint pain can be severe in some people and mild too. In such situations, you should avoid having the foods that can trigger pain. These foods are:

1. Added sugar

Although, you should surely avoid sugar consumption, but if you are suffering from arthritis then added sugar food items like candies, cold rinks, sodas, ice creams and such other sugary items should not be consumed. Studies suggest that the sugars present in sodas can increase the risk of joint pain in the body. 

2. High gluten foods

The foods that contain gluten such as wheat, barley, rye should also be avoided in arthritis. Gluten is associated with swelling and joint pain. Elderly people mostly get affected by this problem. It is said that vegetarian diet can help in decreasing joint pains. 

3. High salt foods

People having joint pain should reduce the consumption of salt. High salty sources are canned soups, some types of cheese, meat and pizza that should be surely avoided.

4. Alcohol

Along with these, a person should not consume alcohol as it can increase the problems of arthritis. In fact, it can give birth to another health problem called osteoarthritis. Therefore, avoid these food items if you are a patient of arthritis.
